There are many healing resources to help you heal from a past abortion. For some women, they find themselves deciding between individual or group support. No matter which option you choose, your confidentiality will be protected, and each resource will work with you during this time of sorrow to help you recover.
A support group where the goal is mutual healing can be constructive. Through this, your needs can be acknowledged through a reciprocal healing exchange within a compassionate community. But entering a group for the first time can be scary. It involves admitting to feelings of grief for the first time outside of the privacy of your mind. Know that others in the group have probably experienced the same fears as you, and they can talk about these feelings with you.
One-on-one support is also an option. If you don’t feel ready for a group setting, then perhaps individual counseling may be preferable. Also, if you feel yourself struggling with negative emotions from an abortion, then the one-on-one support means each session would specifically be tailored to meet your needs.
Every woman is different. Some may prefer to find healing through private sessions, while others may benefit from a small community that affirms potential feelings of regret after an abortion. You do not have to choose one option over the other, as each program will work with you to restore your health and well-being.
