Needless to say, no one can attest to the power of Restore like our clients can. The feedback they provide during the program and in their post-evaluations is invaluable to us! It allows us to continuously refine our services to best support the women and men we serve. Restore is a completely confidential program. But sometimes, our clients give us permission to share their experiences and comments, so people who are considering Restore can get a firsthand account of what it’s like to participate in our post-abortion recovery program. This is the story of one individual who wanted to share how her life has been impacted by the support she received.
River (not her real name) is a former client of Restore, who reached out to us a few years after her abortion, at the age of 31. During her time in the program, River engaged in a book study with her Restore leader, who she described as, “a great listener, supportive, and authentic.” She stated in her post-evaluation that her workbook helped her, “make leaps and bounds” in her journey of processing her emotions surrounding the abortion, and that she was now able to process some feelings like anger for the first time. River also mentioned feeling better equipped to understand and work through emotions related to other traumas in her life. Her final summary speaks to the transformation she experienced:
“Before Restore, I was bleeding out, lost, hurting, helpless & in complete denial and avoidance. During Restore, I was processing, understanding myself, meeting myself with Love for the first time since the abortion 3 years ago, healing. After Restore, I am emotionally and mentally healthy. I am empowered with tools to help me recognize and process my emotions.”
For former clients like River, healing was only possible because they had the courage to reach out for support, and engage in the hard work of processing their abortion experiences. They deserve all the credit for stepping out in faith and initiating change! If you need help coming to terms with a past abortion too, consider connecting with Restore. Our role is to help guide individuals in the healing process, equipping them with resources and unconditional support. We’re a safe space. We promise you won’t find any judgement here.
